Episode 28: The Proactive Disciple Making Process

Today's episode is the first of a series of episodes that will define and describe the Proactive Disciple Making Process. This first episode is an introduction to the process and will give you an insight to why being proactive in our disciple making is critical to church vitality and growth.

Proactive Disciple Making processes will look a little different in each church. But in the strategy I teach, there are three main components to proactive disciple making. And let me clarify, this process is designed for engaging and assisting disciples on their journey. The content, resources, classes, groups, and service or volunteer opportunities are up to the church to provide to the mix.

The 3 primary components of proactive disciple making are connect, engage, and guide. Connecting is identifying people in your church that are seeking something deeper in their life and giving them a way to access their own growth journey. Engaging is understanding the disciples starting point and beginning to build a relationship. Guiding is the ongoing work of leading, supporting, encouraging, and equipping disciples along their journey or pathway.

The next three episodes of the podcast will address each one of these components in a little more detail. So, stay tuned!!!

I have heard some old school preachers comment that processes in the church block the Holy Spirit from the freedom to do it’s work. I think it is quite the contrary: good processes in the church free up the Holy Spirit to do its BEST work!
